One of the worst blizzards of the winter was not enough to stop the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket FFA from attending the South Dakota FFA State Convention April 15-17. Thankfully, the snow ended soon enough for the chapter to make the annual trip to Brookings.
The members had high hopes for the convention, as the CDE season thus far had been highly successful.
While at convention, the members were able to hear the retiring address of a past member, SD FFA State Treasurer Aaron Linke.
On Sunday, six SC/W senior members received their SD FFA State Degrees. Those members were Catherine Bechen, Jared Goldammer, Trent Kingsbury, Nathan Linke, Sarah Morgan, and Bailey Schmiedt.
At the last session, CDE results were announced. The agronomy team won first place and swept the top three placings with Wesley Linke in first, Carter Linke in second, and Megan Linke in third. The agronomy team will advance on to compete at the National FFA Convention this October.
Other members to make the stage were Nathan Linke for third place in Farm and Agribusiness Management and Bailey Schmiedt for eighth in Ag Mechanics. For placing in the top 10 in Ag Mechanics, Bailey received a cordless drill.
