On Thursday, March 29, four fire trucks from the Woonsocket Fire Department and the Sanborn County Ambulance Service were dispatched to the farm of Tracy Burkel north of Woonsocket. The fire was contained to just the shop building on the farm, and the damage to the building was strictly interior damage. There were two tractors in the shed that received a little damage, but the building is still standing, and the damage was contained primarily to one area of the building.
The start of the fire was reportedly from Tracy working on some equipment with a cutting torch and sparks igniting something in the area that spread the blaze too quickly for him to contain on his own.
