Freida Marie Stratman, 96, of Mitchell, formerly of Artesian, died Sept. 12, 2018, at Firesteel Healthcare Community. 

Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 17, at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell.

Freida Marie Stratman, daughter of Alben and Caroline (Koch) Stratman, was born Sept. 15, 1921, in St. Helena, Neb. She moved with her family to Wessington at an early age. Later, the family moved to Artesian where they continued to farm.

After moving to Mitchell, Freida was employed at Randalls and Coborn’s grocery stores for nearly 25 years before retiring.

Freida is survived by her sister, Sister Armella Stratman of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Edmund and Clarence Stratman; and a sister, Melanie.
