Lady Blackhawks win tough battle in Highmore and earn second place in 281 Tournament

Tesa Jensen (11) goes up for one of her many kills she hit during the 281 Conference Tournament last week.

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, the SCW Lady Blackhawks traveled to Highmore to face the Highmore-Harrold Pirates. It took five sets and a tough fight, but the Lady Blackhawks came out on top with set scores of 25-21, 12-25, 22-25, 25-16 and 15-12.

The second round of play on Saturday, Sept. 29, brought the Lady Blackhawks up against common rival, the Wessington Springs Lady Spartans. It was a high intensity match, but SCW pulled out the win after four sets with scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-20 and 25-21.

The last round of the tournament for the Lady Blackhawks was the championship game against the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots. This was the only loss for SCW in the tournament, and they earned second place with set scores of 17-25, 25-18, 14-25 and 23-25.
