Marigold Ann Simpson, 90, of Rapid City, formerly of Woonsocket, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at a Rapid City nursing home.
Funeral services were held August 10 at the Open Heart Methodist Church with visitation one hour before. Interment with her husband, Robert, was at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis.
Marigold was born on March 9, 1928 in Sanborn County to Richard Abram and Mabel Henrietta (Stegeberg) Fisher. She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1946. Upon graduation, she worked at the Parsons Creamery.
Marigold married Robert Simpson on October 5, 1947. Since jobs were scarce, Marigold and Robert moved to Rapid City for work. Throughout the years, Marigold worked as an assistant auditor in the Rapid City Medical Center and a bookkeeper at Pacific Fruit. She also worked for Coca-Cola for about three-and-a-half years, and, after a year off, she went to work at Sears for sixteen-and-a-half years, until her retirement.
Marigold was a member of the Women of Moose, Does Drove #33, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and South Maple UMW.
She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Frease, Mary (Bill) Werner and Amy (Jim) Martin, all of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister-in-law, Betty of Des Moines, Iowa.
Marigold was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mabel; her husband, Robert; three brothers, Gerald, Richard and Virgil; infant son, Barry; and son-in-law, Larry Frease.
