State 4-H Rodeo Finals were held in Ft. Pierre, Aug. 17-20. In order to qualify for state, kids have to place in the top four at a regional rodeo during the summer.
Qualifying for state in the senior division were: Madi Moody in goat tieing, pole bending, and team roping; Mason Moody in bull riding, tie-down roping, and team roping; Tater Moody in tie-down roping and team roping; and Tory Reinders in breakaway roping and pole bending.
Qualifying for state in the Junior division were: Teya Moody in goat tieing and barrels; Trey Moody in goat tieing; Aubrey Moody in breakaway roping, barrels, and pole bending; and Layton Zoss in bull riding.
Mason, Teya, Aubrey, and Layton had some amazing performances and placed in the top four of at least one performance during the finals. Teya and Mason did exceptionally well in a couple of their events. Teya was named the State Champion Junior Barrel racer, and Mason placed third in the State in Senior Team Roping and fourth in the State in Senior Bull Riding, bringing home two new shiny buckles.
Sanborn Central was well represented. Congratulations to all of these fine young athletes.
