Patricia “Pat” Knigge, 78, of Woonsocket, died Jan. 7, 2018, at the Prairie View Healthcare Community in Woonsocket.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m., in the Basham Funeral Home at Woonsocket, with Rev. Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Burial was in the St. Wilfrid Catholic Cemetery.
Pat Knigge was born on Aug. 24, 1939, at Huron, to Delbert and Kathryn (Nelson) Moe. She grew up on a farm in Silver Creek Township northwest of Woonsocket with her parents and brother, Doug. She helped her mother with the cooking and housework, along with chicken chores.
The county grade school Pat attended was a few miles from the farm. In her youth, she enjoyed playing the accordion, and her favorite childhood pastime was playing with the family dogs. Pat graduated from Woonsocket High School, and after graduation, she lived in Sioux Falls and worked at the School for the Blind.
On July 12, 1969, Pat was united in marriage to Raymond “Sonny” Knigge in Woonsocket. They made their home in Woonsocket and raised one son, Tully.
Pat was a lifelong and faithful member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, was active in Faith Circle, and worked on mission projects.
She moved to Prairie View Care Center in June of 2004 and was the longest residing resident. While there, she especially enjoyed playing Bingo and dominos.
Pat is survived by one son, Tully Knigge, of Mitchell, and one brother, Doug (Kay) Moe, of Brookings.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sonny in 1990.
