Forty-three women attended the Prairie Rivers Conference Spring Gathering held on April 21 at the Kimball Protestant Church in Kimball with the theme of “Prayer and Purpose.”
Devotions were led by Pastor Arlyn Rusche of the Vivian, Presho, Kennebec parish entitled, “A Thoughtful Prayer Life.”
Rita Robinson did a powerpoint presentation on a trip to the Dominican Republic, where their group instructed and distributed solar ovens.
A representative of Lutherans Outdoors spoke to the gathering.
Prayer beads were made from long thin paper triangles rolled onto skewers and coated with clear nail polish. Other plastic beads were also given to the ladies to intersperse with their paper beads
Following a salad luncheon, the business meeting was held and an offering taken. Scholarship winners were announced. Election of officers was held.
The 31st South Dakota Synodical Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Convention will be held in Milbank at the “Abbey in the Hill,” June 28-30. The theme is “Discovering God’s Peace.”
The Fall Workshop will be held on Oct. 6 at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotland.
Attending the event from Spirit of Faith Church were Julie Davis, Mary Ann Hopper and Sue Larson. They were impressed with the quantity of quilts made by the church women over the winter – approximately 140. A very large predominantly orange quilt was found as hand-sewn blocks using double thread at a rummage sale. The pattern is bow ties around a snowball block, which was lovely.
