Reva LaVonn Schlomer, 88, died Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 6, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Woonsocket, with burial in Eventide Cemetery at Woonsocket. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.
Reva was born April 19, 1929, in Woonsocket, to Roelf and Jessie (Moore) Schlomer, and was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Woonsocket. She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1947 and received her RN degree from Methodist State Hospital and Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.
She worked for numerous hospitals, including Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, Rapid City Medical Center, and Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. For a time, she was the Sanborn County Public Health Nurse before working as a visiting nurse and a school nurse in Arizona. During summers when she visited in Woonsocket, she worked at Prairie View Care Center.
In 2011, Reva moved back to South Dakota and lived at Wesley Acres in Mitchell. In 2014, she moved to Leisure Living in Corsica, and then in 2018, to the Good Samaritan Center in Corsica.
She spent every holiday in Woonsocket with family. She loved to take pictures, paint china, take care of her roses, sing with the Sweet Adelines and travel.
Reva is survived by two nieces, Susan (Roy) Buchholz and Sandy (Mike) Tuschen; four great-nieces and –nephews; and 10 great great-nieces and –nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Glenn Schlomer; and sister-in-law, Milda Schlomer.
