Sanborn County Commissioners proceedings

MAY 1, 2018

Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: Ohlrogge, Blindauer, S. Larson, and P. Larson. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. 

HIGHWAY

Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, met with the board. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to enter into an agreement with the Department of Transportation to provide for the striping and continuing maintenance of county roads within Sanborn County. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to purchase the State bid from Highway Improvement for crack sealing. All ayes. Motion carried.  Road limits will be removed today.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to enter into executive session at 9:35 a.m. to discuss legal matters. All ayes. Motion carried. 10:00 a.m., Ebersdorfer declared an end to executive session.

VARIANCE

Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to meet as a Board of Adjustment. Penny Farris, Director of Equalization and Mike Rankin met with the board for a variance on behalf of Deanna Jensen. The variance is for the N/2 Lots 1-6, Block 41, for a rear yard of fourteen feet six inches instead of the twenty feet that is required.  By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the variance. All ayes. Motion carried.  

CORLISS AVENUE

Adam and Kristin Alt and Cory Collins met with the board about the condition of Corliss Avenue in Forestburg. Forestburg is requesting some monetary help with resurfacing the four blocks. Logan Township and representatives from Forestburg will meet with the board on May 22nd.

MALT BEVERAGE RENEWAL

Hearing no objections, motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to renew the malt liquor licenses for Judy Kindle – Al’s Place; Alt Investments, Country Pumper; and John Doren – Doren’s Bar. All ayes. Motion carried.

The board will be meeting a week later because of county official’s meetings in Pierre which Auditor Larson will be attending.
