In Region 4B play last week, the Blackhawk boys’ basketball team won both games they played and earned themselves a spot in the SoDak 16 Tournament. Their first game was played in Woonsocket on Tuesday, Feb. 26 against Elkton-Lake Benton. The game was very physical, but the Blackhawks proved to be the tougher of the two teams, as they came up with the victory and a final score of 56-46.
The final game of the Region 4B Tournament for the Blackhawks was played in the Corn Palace in Mitchell on Friday, March 1 against the Hanson Beavers. The first time these two teams met this season was on Jan. 22 in Woonsocket and ended in a victory for the Blackhawks with a final score 58-40. The Hanson Beavers came into the Region finals game with a record of 17-4, while SCW went into the game with a record of 13-8. Hanson was prepared to avenge their regular season loss to the Blackhawks, but the SCW boys proved to be the better team once again, with a final score of 55-48 and earned an opportunity for the Blackhawks to play in the SoDak 16 and fight for a chance to move on to the State B Tournament.
