Lila Rose Thompson, 82, longtime resident of Bellevue, Neb., passed away on April 18, 2019.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 23, at Mitchell Wesleyan Church. Burial was at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Storla. Visitation was held Monday, with a prayer service at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Lila Rose Feistner-Thompson was born in a farmhouse north of Storla on Sept. 4, 1936, to Fred and Rose Feistner. She grew up in rural Woonsocket and attended Storla Lutheran Church. Lila graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton in 1954 and received her three-year degree in nursing from the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell in 1958.
Lila was married to David Thompson on Sept. 7, 1958. She worked as a registered nurse in the hospital in Volga and at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, Iowa. In 1962, they moved to Bellevue, Neb. While in Bellevue, Lila was the head nurse at the Bellevue Leisure Manor and spent many years teaching licensed practical nurses at Doctor’s Hospital in Omaha.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Thompson; three children, Debbie Entz of Wichita, Larry (Vicki) Thompson of Mitchell, Todd (Michelle) Thompson of Omaha; eight grandchildren; her brother, Merlin (Bonnie) Feistner, of Woonsocket; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rose Feistner, and her son-in-law, David Entz.
