During this past summer, officials at Sanborn Central addressed a need in the gym by refinishing and upgrading the look of the gym floor. With wood floors, there is on average a 10-12 year life span in which they need to be stripped, re-sanded and finally repainted. The floor in Forestburg had just completed its 15th season. It became apparent throughout the volleyball and basketball seasons that the floor needed to be addressed. The Sanborn Central Board of Education made the decision in the early part of 2018 to move forward with the project and scheduled it to be done in the summer of 2019. Work began on the floor at the end of May and was completed mid-June.
The end product is one that, along with other recent upgrades like the air conditioning and new bleachers in the gym, helps represent the Blackhawks Spirit and makes us all at Sanborn Central extremely proud and eager for the public to see.
Funds were provided by the Board of Education and the Sanborn Central Booster Club, who made the addition of the logo in the middle of the floor possible.
Thursday, Sept. 12, the Blackhawks volleyball team will take the court for the first time this season in Forestburg. This is a great opportunity to come out and support the volleyball team and get a firsthand look at the newly finished floor. We hope to see you there.
