Going into the 281 Tournament, the Blackhawk boys were seeded third. In the second round of play, they were up against the second seed, the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds. Through several intimidation tactics from the opposing team, the Blackhawks did not lose focus, and they finished the game with another win and a final score of 45-37, which advanced them into the championship game against an on-going rival, James Valley Christian. The Blackhawks had lost to the Vikings just the week prior to the tournament, so they wanted to redeem themselves, but the 281 Tournament always provides challenges and the Blackhawks couldn’t pull it together for the win. The final score was SCW 49, JVC 55.
The Blackhawks now have a record of 7-4. They played Hanson on Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Woonsocket, and results of that game will be in next week’s issue. Their next game will then be on Monday, Jan. 28 against Ethan in a doubleheader at Sanborn Central.
