Letcher Town Board proceedings

February 4th, 2020

Mayor Mark Chada called the meeting to order with Ed Hoffman, Angie Larson, and Angie Meier in attendance. 

A motion was made by Larson, seconded by Hoffman, carried to approve January 6th, 2020, minutes as read.

A motion was made by Hoffman, seconded by Larson, carried, to approve the financials as presented.

Old Business: 

Discussion was held on the Homeland Security Grant. The application period is open if the board wants to apply. Deadline is February 14th, 2020.

Discussion was held on FEMA updates. Paperwork was filled out and sent in for the Applicant Certification. It has been signed and sent in, and now the board is waiting to hear back from FEMA with the next step. 

Board members went over dates for the meetings for 2020: January 6th, February 4th and 22nd, March 2nd and 16th, April 6th and 20th, May 4th and 18th, June 8th and 22nd, July 7th and 21st, August 3rd and 17th, September 8th and 21st, October 5th and 19th, November 9th and 24th, December 7th and 21st.

Discussion was held on Election information for the newspaper and circulating petitions. The election date is April 14th, 2020. Petitions may be picked up through January 31st, 2020. Petitions are due back to the Town Of Letcher Finance Office on February 28th, 2020, by 5:00 p.m. Angie Larson’s term is up for re-election. It is a three-year term.

A motion was made by Hoffman, seconded by Larson, carried, to approve wages for 2020 as listed:

Mayor – $120.00;

Trustee – $100.00;

Finance Officer – $18.50 per hour;

Water Superintendent/Tester – $200.00;

Custodian – $18.50 per hour;

Meter Reader – $90.00;

Lost Time – $30.00;

Mileage Reimbursement – $0.58;

Grounds/Summer Help – $14.00 per hour;

West Nile – $100.00 per person per each application;

Annual Report – $700.00.

A motion was made by Larson, seconded by Hoffman, carried, to approve the Official Newspaper and Lawyer for the Town of Letcher for 2020 as listed:

Official Newspaper – Sanborn Weekly Journal;

Lawyer for 2020 – Tim Bottum with Morgan Theeler LLP.

A current listing of the Letcher Volunteer Fire Department personnel has been received. The current listing is: Curtis Adams, Tim Hoffman, Bob Steckel, Chuck Amick, Mark Jensen, Lacey Swenson, Clay Amick, Shanna Jensen, Cindy VanLaecken, Darin Amick, Clay Kidder, Murray VanLaecken, Dave Brooks, Matt Meier, Jeremy White, Rod Clarambeau, Rich Moe, Andy Ettswold, Shawn Moody, Melanie Ettswold, Tara Morris, Sean Gromer, Aaron Roth, Ed Hoffman and Ken Stach.

New Business: 

The board went over the water sample report.

Discussion was held on past due accounts.

The board members discussed a map of town that was sent to them from District III. There are no changes at this time. They filled out paperwork and sent it back to District III.

Spotter training will be held Monday, March 30th, at the 4H Building in Forestburg.

Township meeting will be held on February 18th at 1:30 p.m. at the 4H Building in Forestburg. 

Discussion was held on summer help information from insurance.  The board will be putting an ad in the paper in April to hire part-time summer help.
