NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ORDINANCE # 2021-18

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.1998-04 (EXISTING ZONING ORDINANCE) AND ALL AMENDMENTS THERETO, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF CHAPTER 11-2, 1967 SDCL, AND AMENDMENTS THEREOF, AND FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH

The Jerauld County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Room of the Jerauld County Courthouse located at 205 Wallace Ave. S, Wessington Springs, S.D., regarding a proposed ordinance to amend Article 6 Section 613 “MINIMUM YARD REQUIREMENTS” [RR – Rural Residential District} of Ordinance No.1998-04 (Existing Zoning Ordinance).

The proposed ordinance would change the set back requirements for the side yard from 25’ to 20’ for the Rural Residential District in Jerauld County.

All interested persons are encouraged to attend in person and comment on Ordinance #2021-18.  After the public hearing, the Planning Commission may pass a resolution recommending approval of Ordinance #2021-18 with or without amendment, to the Board of County Commissioners.  

The proposed Ordinance #2021-18 will be made available for public inspection at the Jerauld County Auditor’s Office located at 205 Wallace Ave. S, Wessington Springs, SD.

Written comments may be filed by mail to the Jerauld County Auditor at PO Box 422, Wessington Springs, SD on or before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021.

The Blackhawks basketball teams traveled to Sunshine Bible Academy to take on the Crusaders, and they made a clean sweep with wins for all four teams who played that day. The boys’ junior varsity team started the day and earned a victory with a final score of 60-2.

Next up was the girls’ JV team. The younger ladies beat the Crusaders with a final score of 43-10.

Continuing the winning streak, the varsity ladies won their contest with a final score of 63-10.

The final game of the evening found the varsity Blackhawks boys finishing the night with a win and a score of 58-23. 

The Blackhawks’ next court action was in a doubleheader in Woonsocket against Hitchcock-Tulare on Tuesday, Dec. 14. They have another home game tonight (Thursday) in Forestburg against the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars. They finish their pre-Christmas season with another home game on Tuesday, Dec. 21, this time in Woonsocket, against the Titans of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton.

The Economics class at Sanborn Central held a business plan competition on Dec. 8. Students took an idea for a realistic business, created a business plan, and provided financial projections for their business. Judges from around the community came to score presentations. Rebel Fencing Services team of Michael Hoffman, Brady Larson, and Toby Kneen took home first place. Malorie Mattke and Trinity Harford took second with their coffee business, Cup of Joe & Go!
