Students at Sanborn Central Elementary School celebrated their Book It success on May 12.
Book It is a program initially created by Pizza Hut to encourage students in grades K-6 to read. The program was created in 1984. Classroom teachers in grades K-5 at Sanborn Central individually create a monthly (September-April) goal for their students. Parents are encouraged to promote reading at home. Students who have achieved their goals are rewarded with a Book It Party at the end of the year. The party theme this year was Tailgating. The afternoon began with a guest reader, Mr. Siemsen. Students enjoyed face painting, an obstacle bouncy house, corn hole, ladder golf, yard bowling, and of course tailgating snacks. Congratulations to the students who achieved their reading goals.
