The last few days of school are a time to celebrate all the work and success the kids had the past nine months. The Woonsocket Elementary students took advantage of some nice weather and roamed Dumont Avenue in the afternoon on Friday, May 13, to decorate the sidewalks with chalk drawings.
On Monday, May 16, they spent the day outside competing in different track and field events for their annual end-of-the-year field day. They had a frisbee and softball throw, a football kick, and a long jump contest, along with several running races for all the kids to compete in.
On the last day of school, Wednesday, May 18, the kids were treated with some fun activities at the baseball/softball field where they took part in outdoor games, kickball, and they got to jump in bouncy houses rented by the WEPC.
Later that same day, the students received some parting gifts from the WEPC as they took part in the annual WEPC Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. This year’s theme was “We’re Wild About Summer.” They were provided with safari sunglasses as they walked around Lake Prior in new gold-colored t-shirts sporting this year’s theme, which WEPC also provided. They were provided with water after each lap completed and then a safari sucker as they ended the day and the 2021-22 school year.
