• The annual meeting with the school’s insurance pool will be held on Thursday, March 21 in Chamberlain. Bechen will attend. This will also factor into the district’s budgeting for the upcoming school year.

• Spring activities are set to begin, with FFA CDEs already beginning and track and golf set to begin shortly.

• Mr. Steele is taking the senior Government class to Northern State to watch the South Dakota State Supreme Court in action on March 20th.

• Foundation Scholarship members met on March 4th to calculate the amount each graduating senior would be eligible to receive this year. That amount will be $2,700 for a fully vested student (attending Sanborn Central for seven-plus years). Congratulations, seniors, and thank you to everyone who continues to support this endeavor.

Mrs. Vermeulen’s Report:

• The third quarter Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports parties were held March 6 and 7. High School/Middle School enjoyed Wii, bean bags, and laser tag. The elementary students danced the afternoon away.

Discussion Items:

• The football field will be looked at by Mebius Landscaping in the near future. The spreading of dirt and seeding will also be looked at by Mebius. Pricing into a new sound system and portable bleachers were also discussed.

• Mr. Flatten spoke to the board about teaming up with Santel to receive a grant to start an ESports team this fall. Randy Northrup of Santel Communications has been very helpful and supportive through the exploration of Sanborn Central participating in the league.

• Board Member Curtis Adams showed the rest of the board a drawing of a possible garage shed that could be constructed to house the school vehicles and be used for storage. Collaboration between area businesses and the school’s Ag program would be the ideal means of constructing a garage
