Eight members of Hope Circle of Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church met on Monday, Feb. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at Prairie View Health Community. Attending were JoAnn Schladweiler, Evelyn Mitzel, Vickie Hines, Barb Coulthard, Ruth Jensen, Jacki Aymar, Vicki Linke, and Sue Larson.

Vicki Linke was our hostess serving heart-shaped pizza and chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Myrna Hjelm joined us for the meal.

Following devotions by Vicki Linke, she called the meeting to order. Sue Larson read minutes from the December meeting and several “Thank Yous” were read from recipients of our Christmas Care Baskets.

Fifty dollars was received for sewing a polyester quilt for a homeless person in Wyoming.

Thrivent Action Team grants have been secured for making toiletries kits for boys and girls who are homeless in Sioux Falls. These will be distributed through “Church on the Street.” It was decided to add a pair of socks to each kit along with the listed items needed. Deadline is March 11 for donations as we will all contribute to this worthy cause.

A Lenten supper will be provided by the Youth Group on Ash Wednesday at 6 p.m. before worship services at 7 p.m.

A six-week study of “Unbinding Your Heart” begins on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. The study is written by Martha Grace Reese and includes a small group prayer and faith-sharing meeting between weekly gatherings.

Mission Quilting will be meeting on Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. There will be three sessions in March before we begin packing up our supplies and fabric for storage while the new church is being built.

Hope Circle is in charge of the program for the regular monthly birthday party on Feb. 20 at Prairie View Health Community.

The March meeting will be a potluck meal at PVHC on March 8  at 5:30 p.m.

Babe Larson, Alice Baruth, and Adeline Schlagel, residents of PVHC, joined the group for the Bible study session. JoAnn Schladweiler led the group in a Biblical Nativity Trivia multiple choice quiz. All were amazed at how many trivia facts are influenced by Christmas carols and movies. We also learned about the life of Katharina von Bora, wife of Martin Luther, from the “Gather” magazine.
