Hope Circle of Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church met on Thursday, April 12, at 5:30 p.m., at Prairie View Healthcare Community with seven members present: JoAnn Schladweiler, Barb Coulthard, Vickie Hines, Evelyn Mitzel, Vicki Linke, Sue Larson and Ruth Jensen, who was the hostess. PVHC residents joining for the meal were Myrna Hjelm and Babe Larson.

Vicki Linke called the meeting to order following a devotional reading by Ruth Jensen. Sue Larson read the previous minutes and gave a treasurer’s report. It was decided to give fifty dollars for an offering at the Prairie Rivers Conference Spring Gathering on April 21 in Kimball.

Correspondence was read from the Mitchell Area Safehouse thanking the mission quilters for several baby quilts. A thank you was also received from Rebel Herd of “Church On The Street” in Sioux Falls for the 61 kits for homeless teenaged boys and girls that the youth of the church had packed.

The group decided on a choice of alternatives to the annual Lutherans Outdoors Quilt Show. Vicki Linke will let them know that raising funds locally and donating them to LO was the best option.

Sue announced the Letcher Community Church Guest Day will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m., at the church. The theme this year is “Hello.”

Sue reported visiting with Ruby Pattison and Louise Maeschen about doing their “Antique Quilt Trunk Show” as guest speakers for a ladie’s luncheon this spring as a fund raiser. Due to circumstances, neither could come. The group discussed other possible speakers/quilters and various dates were mentioned but no decisions were made.

The final service at The United Methodist Church will be on Sunday, April 15, with a ground breaking by everyone following worship. Bring your shovels.

An auction of items no longer needed will be held on April 21, at noon.

Residents Carole Miller, Ellen Ann Zoss Mason, and Alice Baruth joined the ladies for the Bible study entitled “Multiple Meanings: Learning from other interpretations” Session four: “The Prodigal Son.” Scripture was taken from Luke 15: 11-32.

The next meeting will be May 10 at PVHC at 5:30 p.m.
