Robert “Bob” R. Ingle, 89, of Cavour, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 29 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with family present. A prayer service was held Wednesday evening at the Kuhler Funeral Home.

Robert R. Ingle was born Oct. 3, 1929 in Mitchell to Amoy J. and Laura May (Rhoads) Ingle. He grew up on the family farm south of Cavour and graduated from Huron High School in 1947. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Huron College on June 5, 1951. He was a photographer while in college.

Bob met Lois Mae Schneiderman while he was at Huron College. They were married on April 18, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Woonsocket. Bob served in the United States Army for two years, primarily at Fort Bragg, N.C., in the service company for the 50th Signal Battalion attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. Originally designated to work on telephone lines, he was happy to change his duty to photography due to his experience at Huron College.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob and Lois returned to the family farm south of Cavour where he would live for the next 60 years. Bob raised seed crops for many years and built a seed plant in 1982. With the creation of Pearl View Seeds, Bob was able to clean and process seed as well as package bird food products. He was a Sokota Hybrids dealer, a certified seed producer and processor with Pearl View Seeds from 1983 to 2009, and a member and officer in the South Dakota Seed Trade Association.

Bob was a member of the International Flying Farmers. He was elected to the Huron Board of Education and served two terms. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer in 1960. He was appointed to the Board of Directors for the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.  He was a member of the local photo club, and also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Scott (Sharon) Ingle of Cavour, and Beth (Jim) Mathias of Olathe, Kan.; one grandson; brother-in-law, Larry Graf of Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois in 2009; and his sister, Carol Joan Graf in 2018.
