Janice Burnison, 60, of Huron, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Alpena Community Center. Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Alpena.
Janice Marie Palmer was born at St. John’s Hospital in Huron on May 28, 1959, to Omer and Helen Palmer. Janice was baptized at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Wessington and was confirmed in both the Concordia Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey.
Janice went to school in Wolsey. She later drove school bus for the Wolsey School and worked for the Town of Wolsey. In 1994, Janice completed her RN schooling in Huron. She was pinned, received her associate’s degree in nursing and obtained her license as a Registered Nurse. She worked in Wessington Springs and Woonsocket before becoming the Director of Nursing at the Golden Living Center in Groton for six years and then later at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron for two years.
Janice Marie Palmer married the love of her life, David Adrian Burnison, on Feb. 21, 2000, at a small family ceremony in Wessington Springs.
Janice is survived by her husband, David “Bear” Burnison; one son, Darrell (Lois) Bittner; two grandchildren, Jordan and Halie; three brothers, Glenn (Teri) Palmer, Marvin (Karol) Palmer and Dennis (Carol) Palmer; four sisters-in-law, Heidi Palmer, Mary White, Patricia Teveldal and Linda (Mike) Kilcoin; and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Helen Palmer; three brothers, Russell Palmer, Darrell “Dutch” (Judy) Palmer and Robert Palmer; David’s parents, Betty and Ralph Burnison; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Teveldal.
