Ronald Larson, 82, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Ronald Dean Larson was born on Oct. 3, 1938, in Brookings County to parents Lawrence and Carrie (Myre) Larson. Ron joined the United States Marine Corp on Oct. 26, 1955. He was honorably discharged in 1961.
Ron married Carol Wait and had three children, Rick, Tim and Cindy. Ron married Janet Borders in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on June 28, 1979, and they had Sovanna.
Ron received his accounting degree from Huron College in 1985. He started and managed various grain elevators in South Dakota. He worked at Armour’s for a time before finishing his career as an accountant for the Hickory House Inn and the Plains Hotel in Huron.
Ronald enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting, taxidermy and taking drives out to Lake Byron. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Huron, serving as its Commandant for a time.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Huron; children, Rick (Cindy) Larson of Huron, Tim (Linda) Larson of Brookings, Wayne (Brenda) Jacobson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Cindy (Bart) Schulte, and Sovanna (Scott) Beekman of Woonsocket; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Alfred Braun and Floyd Brandenburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Delilah Polly, Rosella Hegg, Marlys Braun, and Lavonne Brandenburg.
