Blackhawks claim second consecutive 281 Conference title

Hawks beat Highmore/Harrold in nail-biter

The Lady Blackhawks are number one in the 281 for the second year in as many years as the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket co-op has been in existence.
SC/W defended their title with a win over Highmore-Harrold in a close, 61-56, Thursday night game at Huron.
The Lady Hawks came out first with a string of scores, earning at one time a 14-point lead with the score at 30-16. The Pirates began a comeback late in the second quarter, cutting the Hawk’s lead to 34-29 going into the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the Hawks started another run pushing their lead to 47-35 at one point. The fourth quarter wasn’t as kind to SC/W as the lead disintegrated to two points with a dangerously close score of 53-51.

Rachelle Moore was named the Carr Chiropractic MVP of the tournament.

Six unanswered free-throws, four from Rachelle Moore, spread the score apart once again and clinched the win with under 30 seconds to play.
The score stood at 61-56 as the final buzzer sounded.
The Blackhawks  came out of the tournament with a perfect 9-0 season record.
Rachelle Moore was named the Carr Chiropractic Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Shelby Selland had the game high 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Moore added 13 points and four rebounds.
Morgan Selland added up 11 points including three three-pointers and four rebounds. Marissa Weber had five rebounds and four points.
The Pirates (10-2) were led by McKenzee Zilverberg  with six boards and 20 points and Courtney Keller with seven boards and 17 points.
SC/W had 33 rebounds to H-H’s 31 and 12 turnovers to the Pirates’ 18.The Hawks took the ball away 10 times, including three steals by Rachel Selland.
