Hannah Hinker, daughter of Jeff and Peg Hinker, set a new record for Accelerated Reading points achieved in one year. Tuesday, Feb. 25, was declared “Hannah Hinker Day” by librarian, Jolene Enfield. Hannah, a fourth grader at Sanborn Central, has achieved 722.8 points since school started in August. Her personal goal is to achieve 1,000 points by the end of the year. The previous record was set in 2009 by John Blindauer who was then in grade seven. Students are required to read books and then take a comprehension test on the computer. Students then earn points. The number of points are based upon the reading level of the book and the student’s accuracy on the test. Congratulations, Hannah!
