Dorothy Kluth, 81, Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in Avera Brady Health and Rehab, Mitchell.
Funeral services were Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Stickney. Burial was in Silver Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation and a prayer service were held Sunday evening in the church.
Dorothy Ann (Sievert) Kluth was born Jan. 8, 1932 to John and Evelyn (Fouberg) Sievert near Forestburg.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Forestburg.
On March 10, 1957, she was united in marriage to Roy Kluth, Jr. in the Forestburg Lutheran Church. She lived on farms southeast of Stickney, all of her married life.
She was a member of the Stickney American Legion Auxiliary for several years, the VFW Auxiliary in Mitchell for many years and the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Stickney.
Dorothy enjoyed making scrapbooks for all her grandchildren and herself, as well as collecting small pitchers and gambling. Some of the greatest pleasures in her life were getting married, having children and traveling to the Black Hills and Las Vegas.
She is survived by her four sons, Wayne Kluth, Warren (Sandy) Kluth, Gary Kluth and David (Lori) Kluth, all of Mount Vernon; her daughter, Sherry (Greg) Schumacher of Stickney; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Maynard Sievert of Woonsocket; four sisters, Betty Thompson of Woonsocket, Ada Kott of Kimball, Darlene Mentele of Spencer and Rosetta Sievert of Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Sandy Sievert of Mitchell; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; an infant son, Curtis; her parents; grandparents; two brothers, Raymond and Harold Sievert; two sisters, Judy and Lucille Sievert; three brothers-in-law, Jim Mentele, Emil Kott and Ronald Thompson; and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Sievert and Myrt Thompson.
