Donald Peterson Hopper, 86, of Franklin Grove, Ill. died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, Ill..
Per Donald’s request, there will not be any funeral service or visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Donald was born Feb. 17, 1927, in Huron, the son of Ivan and Margaret (Peterson) Hopper. He married Betty Lou Goeman on Jan. 20, 1952, in Woonsocket.
Donald served in the United States Army and was a member of Living History Antique Equipment Association in Franklin Grove.
He was a lifetime farmer in the Lee County area and worked for the John Deere Dealership in Dixon for 20 years, prior to his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hopper of Franklin Grove; one son, Donald (Bonnie) Hopper of Amboy; one daughter, Deborah Bubrick of Dixon; two brothers, Howard (Del Rita) Hopper of Watertown and Richard Hopper of Forestburg; one sister, Norma (Lewis) Patterson of Howard; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Hopper; one brother, Robert Hopper; and his son-in-law, Bruce Bubrick.
