The Jerauld/Sanborn county Relay For Life committee accepted a banner in honor of being among the nation’s top 10 fundraising chapters. The
Jerauld/Sanborn chapter finished eighth (per capita) in the nation for 2013 among communities in the 1,000-9,999 population.
Each year, more than four million people in over 20 countries raise funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay For Life movement
During a Relay event, particip
ants and survivors celebrate what they’ve overcome, remember people lost to the disease and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
At Relay For Life events, communities come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds raised make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!
Many Relay For Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park or fairground. Events are up to 24 hours long, and because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.
