Agatha Florence Ebersdorfer, 83, Fedora, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 19, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Artesian. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Artesian. Visitation was Sunday evening at St. Charles Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Arrangements were with the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Agatha Florence Ebersdorfer was born on Jan. 3, 1932 to Michael and Louise (Kersch) Schmit at the family farm south of Artesian. Aggie attended country schools and graduated from Artesian High School in 1951. She loved sports and was proud to be a member of the Artesian six-member girls’ basketball team.
On May 28, 1952, she married Don Ebersdorfer at St. Charles Catholic Church in Artesian. Agatha and Don lived in Rapid City prior to moving to the farm south of Artesian, where they farmed for 60 years. She enjoyed attending rodeos, nature and the daily routine of farm life, working with the family livestock operation. She was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and her fried chicken. She always enjoyed spending time with family at holidays, pheasant hunting gatherings and attending her grandchildren’s school activities were a priority.
She worked for many years at the Elks Club and later with the school lunch program at the Artesian and Sanborn Central schools. She was a life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Don; one son, Jeff (Molly) Ebersdorfer, Fedora; two daughters, Connie (Rod) Vermeulen, Mitchell, Jodie (Keith) Theisen, Clear Lake; son-in-law, Doug Wudel, Lennox; six grandchildren; one brother, George (LaVonne) Schmit, Mitchell; sister-in-law, Janice Ebersdorfer, Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Clarence Stratman, Mitchell; nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Mary; daughter, Bonnie; sisters, Martha Stratman and Angeline (Damon) Eining; brothers, Raymond (Eva) Schmit, Michael, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Francis Ebersdorfer.
