The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Jan. 16 at the Sanborn County 4-H Building in Forestburg.
Prior to the meeting, the Baysinger family provided breakfast with donuts, bread and grapes.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Aaron Linke. The flag pledge was led by Sebastian Kotilinek and the 4-H pledge was led by Evan Ohlrogge. Junior Vice President Megan Linke led roll call with 11 members answering the question, “Who is your favorite teacher?”
The secretary’s report was read by Secretary Nathan Linke and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Xavier Baysinger and approved as read.
Hope Baysinger and Evan Ohlrogge gave a report on the delivery of cookie plates to volunteer firemen and EMTs for the Christmas Caring Project. Sutton Senska gave a report on the bowling party. Braxton Gentles and Evan read notes received in response to the club’s “notes of cheer” and elderly friend letters.
Under old business, Leader Paula Linke talked about the 50/50 raffle to be put on at the SC/W vs. Wessington Springs basketball game in Woonsocket on Jan. 28 with proceeds to be donated to the Woonsocket American Legion. Paula also talked about the 4-H calendars, which have arrived.
Under new business, members talked about why the club is doing a fruit sales fundraiser. It was decided to set a minimum goal of selling five boxes per 4-H member, up to 10 boxes per 4-H family.
Paula talked about plans for the 4-H grounds improvements, and encouraged members to set their goals for the year using a goal setting worksheet.
It was decided that the club set a date to go ice skating and a date to go to Skyzone.
Paula encouraged members to get their public presentations done early.
Following the meeting, Sebastian did a demonstration with his dog, Ace.
The next meeting is Friday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Woonsocket Community Center.
