Balancing the team on her back, six-foot-two junior Myah Selland carried the Lady Blackhawks to their fourth State “B” berth in five years, easily taking down Castlewood, 64-40, in the Region 3B championship Friday night in Huron.
Selland scored 38 points in the win, just two points shy of her career-high set the previous game, and exactly the total Castlewood score at the time she left the floor.
To ensure a well-rounded performance, Selland put up her 10th double-double of the season with 10 rebounds.
Also helping out the Blackhawks was Abby Doering with seven points, Kayla Olson with six and Tayla Weber with four.
The Hawks shot 26-of-54 from the field for 48 percent, while the Warriors shot 15-of-52 for just 29 percent. SCW outrebounded Castlewood, 27-19, and committed just five turnovers.
The Warriors shot 15-of-40 from the floor and eight-of-17 from the line. They were led in scoring by Regan Benike with 14 points.
The win propels the Blackhawks into their fourth state tournament in five years. Tournament play begins Thursday night at the Huron Arena.
