Once again the Town and Kountry Kids 4-H Club is sponsoring the “Best Pie Contest” at the Sanborn County 4-H Achievement Days, to be held on Aug. 13 at the 4-H building in Forestburg.
Any resident of Sanborn County can participate.  All pies need to be homemade, including the crust.  Any type of pie (fruit, cream, pecan, pumpkin, etc.) will be accepted. Pies need to be made in disposable or non-returnable dishes and must be at the 4-H building by 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Judges will select the best pie by appearance, crust quality, filling texture, flavor and uniqueness. The top three pies will be awarded prizes. Pies will be sold on a silent auction with the top three being auctioned at the 4-H program following the barbeque.
This year the proceeds will be used to purchase a lighted flagpole for the 4-H center.  Any extra proceeds will be used to assist with costs of upgrading the 4-H center.
