Jasen Gamber

Mitchell

Jasen Alan Gamber, 45, of Mitchell, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at Avera Queen of Peace.

Memorial services were held Thursday, March 5, at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Richland Cemetery in Carpenter at a later date. The visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, March 5, at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Jasen Alan Gamber, son of Harold and Betty (Hendrickson) Gamber, was born April 27, 1974, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up and went to school in the Mitchell, Artesian and Watertown areas. Jasen was employed as a janitor, painter, welder and a florist in Watertown.

Jasen was united in marriage with Valerie Griffith on Oct. 29, 1999, in Watertown. He later was united in marriage with Stacie Hughes in Rapid City.

He enjoyed grilling, cooking, fishing, camping, gardening, playing cards and working with wood.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two children, Cole Alan Gamber and Eilzabeth Ann Gamber, both of Delta Junction, Alaska; his mother, Betty Gamber of Mitchell; his ex-wife, Valerie Gamber of Delta Junction, Alaska; two brothers, Jeffery (Annette) Gamber of Watertown and Jon (Kim) Gamber of Mitchell; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Gamber; his grandparents, John and Violet Johnson, Albert Franks, and John and Dorothy Hendrickson; and an uncle, Royal Gamber.

Robert Ziebart

Stickney

Robert Ziebart, 80, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.

Robert James Ziebart was born Aug. 4, 1939, to Reinhold and Laura (Snyder) Ziebart on the family farm near Stickney. He grew up on the farm and attended Pheasant Lake Country School. At a young age, he knew he had farming in his blood and began helping his parents on the farm.

He was united in marriage to Geraldine Hughes on March 30, 1960, in Hills, Minn. The couple made their home in Stickney for a couple years before moving to the home place where Robert continued his lifelong vocation of farming. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his four children, Jodi (Jerry) Schladweiler of Mitchell; Robert Ziebart of Plankinton; Scott Ziebart of Mitchell; and Danny Ziebart of Madison; seven grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Tami Ziebart of Woonsocket; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine; a son, Tracy; a sister, Shirley Hamilton; and a brother, Gerald Ziebart.

Ruth Gaetze

Letcher

Ruth Gaetze, 88, of rural Letcher, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, in her home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation with prayer service was held Wednesday, March 4, at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Ruth Gaetze, daughter of Harold and Edna (Robbins) Smith, was born June 24, 1931, in Mitchell. She grew up on a farm near Cuthbert and attended grade school through the eighth grade. Ruth graduated from Woonsocket High School. She attended South Dakota Beauty Academy in Sioux Falls and became a beautician. She worked at Davis Beauty Shop and later at Shirley’s Beauty Shop in Mitchell. Later, she worked at Mitchell Retirement Home as a nursing assistant and then as the Activity Director. She also worked at Storla Sunset Home as a CNA and medical aide. Ruth also worked at Helping Hands in Mitchell as a home health provider for 10 years.

She was united in marriage with Ivan Gaetze on June 11, 1955 at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket. They farmed and lived near Letcher. Ruth and Ivan were blessed with five children.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and spending time with family.

Ruth was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell, the Women of the Moose and a past senior regent, the Academy of Friendship, the Mary Club and the Letcher Study Club.

Ruth is survived by her five children, Charles (Julie) Gaetze of Yacolt, Wash., Tom (Twyla Bryant) Gaetze of Sioux Falls, Lori (Bob) Herman of Mitchell, Larry (Julie Crang) Gaetze of Mitchell, Janell (Jim) Miller of Gadsden, Ala.; three sisters, Helen Linke, Viola Goergen and Karen (Jim) Mattke; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Edna Smith; her husband, Ivan Gaetze; a sister, Eileen Linke; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Ila Smith; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Linke, Harold Linke and Leo Goergen; two nieces, Dawn Smith and Susan Linke; two nephews, Lee Goergen and Andy Smith; a granddaughter, Breezy Lee Bryant; and a great-granddaughter, Branaugh Leggott.
