Teenage granddaughter wins drag race at Marion

Lacee Fedeler, 13, of Madison recently took first place at the Junior Dragster Shoot Out at Thunder Valley Dragways near Marion.
It was her very first trip down the drag strip.
Fedeler got her dragster just a few weeks ago. It is a “junior” dragster and is smaller than the regular cars, yet it can reach speeds up to 80 miles per hour. The car has a single engine and burns methanol.
The track is a quarter mile, but is shortened some for the juniors. The class is open to boys and girls eight years old to 17.
Racing is in Fedeler’s blood. Her father, Jeremy, used to race at the Lake County Speedway and now drag races in a souped-up Falcon.
Fedeler also works on the car herself, changing the oil and keeping up with the maintenance.
Lacee is the granddaughter of Jerry and Val Miller, Woonsocket.
