Blackhawks slip by Titans

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket narrowly defeated Mount Vernon/Plankinton in overtime, 58-55, in boys’ basketball action Saturday at Plankinton.
Nick Miller pumped in a game high 21 points for the Blackhawks. Davion Brooks delivered a baker’s dozen along with six boards. Todd Stekl added 10 points and six assists.
The Titans (3-3)  were paced by Deric Denning and Jared Long who each scored 20 points.
SC/W (6-0) went 20-of 54 from the field and 14-of-17 from the charity stripe to MV/P’s 17-of-45 from the field and 16-of-22 from the line.

Woony sixth grade hosts annual Winter Fest

The Woonsocket sixth grade class hosted the annual Winter Fest on Friday, Dec. 21. There were booths of crafts, games and a movie theater. The K-5 students spent the morning having fun. Pictured above are: Joel Rassel, the head elf, and the sixth grade class.
