
DOROTHY WEINBERGER is pictured receiving her award recognizing her for her years of volunteer efforts in the Town of Artesian.
The Town Board of Artesian recognized Dorothy Weinberger with a day of her own on Dec. 11, 2012, as proclaimed by Kurt Effling, board chairman.
Weinberger was presented a plaque and a key to the Town of Artesian at the senior citizens noon meal, organized by the Artesian Community Association at the community center.
Weinberger was recognized for her spirit of volunteerism and her community service to Artesian. She has been the Artesian Town area historian, church historian, correspondent for the Sanborn Weekly Journal, treasurer for churches and other organizations and has worked on many school and community projects.
Weinberger has been an active member of the Artesian Legion Auxiliary, Community Improvement Association, Sanborn Central Horizons, First Lutheran Church and Town of Artesian historical celebration. She recently completed a picture book for the First Lutheran 125th celebration. She also is the resource for names of new families in the area for the Christmas fruit basket project.
A dozen red roses were also presented to Weinberger from Kim (Weinberger) Hoffman, Korbin, Kinze and Blayde and Don and Mary Weinberger.
Letters of recognition were read and presented to her by the First Lutheran Church, Sanborn Central Horizons, Artesian American Legion and Legion Auxiliary. Also presented were a Community Service Award and Key to the town certificates.
Judy Wormstadt summed up the day with, “Your presence here is a real blessing to our church and community.
