First Annual Forestburg Melon Festival held last Saturday

Event held to raise money for Forestburg streets

THE CAR SHOW brought in a wide range of entries, from the truly antique, to the truly unique.

The very first annual Forestburg Melon Festival was held Saturday and was considered a success, despite the furnace-like heat.
“Small Town, Big Melons” is the slogan of Forestburg and the festival, which kicked off around noon at the site of the old ballpark. A car show, vendors and kids games kept the crowd busy throughout the afternoon. A football toss, melon eating contest and minnow races were among the events kids could take part in. Vendors, including a food truck were on hand and “Big J” from KMIT donated his talents as emcee.

The big event of the afternoon was the ATV mud run and the whole day wrapped up with a dance with Hadley and the Renegades entertaining.
All proceeds from the event will go towards fixing some of the roads in Forestburg.
