    On May 15, 4-H members enrolled in the horse project area attended a mandatory horse safety training at the 4-H Building in Forestburg.
The 4-Hers practiced their judging skills evaluating Breyer horses in practice classes. They also learned safety tips from horse leader, Della Amdahl. Teresa Roster, DVM taught the youth about the horse digestive system and was an excellent resource for their questions.

 

 

 

    Harold G. “Doc” Krog, age 84, of Woonsocket, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Huron Regional Medical Center, Huron.
A funeral wake service was held Sunday, May 26 at the Basham Funeral Home, Woonsocket, at 1 pm. Pastor Rhonda Wellsandt-Zell, officiated. The family was present from 1-4 p.m. too receive friends and share memories. Inurnment to be held at a later date.
Dr. Harold George Krog was born to Peter and Jennie Krog on June 3, 1928 in Chamberlain. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1946. After graduation, he then joined the United States Marine Corps serving from June 1946 until 1949.
After his service, he attended Fort Collins A&M University graduating with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1953. Harold joined practices with Sam Holman, DVM, to form Pony Hills Veterinary, Inc. where their practice was in large and small animal medicine, also incorporating a hatchery and feed and grain operation.
He married Joyce Morrison on Aug. 27, 1954 in Huron. They resided in Woonsocket with their children Jane Marie, Mary Ellen and Harold George, Jr. until 1968. He later married Arlyce Larson in Oct. 23, 1979. He continued his veterinary medicine practice for years, joining with Terry Hendrix in preparation for retirement.
Doc is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Moss, Bernice Spencer, Betty Miskimins; brother, Keith Krog; his children, Jane Krog, Aurora, Colo., Mary (Rodney) Buchholz, Ellsworth, Kan., Harold (Jacqui) Krog, Orangevale, Calif.; step-son, Jim (Patti) Larson, Woonsocket; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

JoAnn C. Mulder

Yankton

JoAnn C. Mulder, daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Bruget) Hanson, was born Aug. 21, 1932 in Yankton, and died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, at the age of 80.
JoAnn grew up in Mission Hill, SD and graduated from Gayville-Volin High School in 1950.  She married Larry Peterson in 1951. Together they raised their family in Yankton.  Larry died in 1986, and in 1990, JoAnn married Peter Mulder. They lived in Corsica, then moved to Yankton.  JoAnn and Peter enjoyed their time together, traveling within the United States and overseas.
JoAnn belonged to the Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton, and made many friends. She was kind to everyone and had a special place in her heart for all her “new” family members. She loved to attend sporting events, especially when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Mulder of Yankton; four children, Steven (Cheryl) Peterson of Texas, Linda (Doug) Folkers and Don (Mary) Peterson of South Dakota, and Carol Williams of Montana; a brother, Dick (Norma) Hanson of Washington; four step-children, Bill (Jan) Mulder of Mitchell, Dianne (Dave) Selchert of Yankton, Bev (Dwight) Bordewyk of Parkston, and Janice (Glenn) Geraets of Mitchell; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
