Spirit of Six given to Blackhawks cheerleaders

The Spirit of Six award is given to a team of cheerleaders at each state tournament in honor of six Rapid City Central cheerleaders who were killed in a plane crash while returning from the state tournament in 1968. The award is given by the South Dakota Peace Officer’s Association and the Ladies Auxiliary (represented at right).
This year’s recipients are the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks. They are pictured above receiving the award: Teri Anderson-Schlader, Michele Carda, Tristen Wormstadt, Tamra Mann, Ashleigh Fry,  Dayna Opsahl, Melissa Wormstadt (coach) and Kathy Meyer.
