The Artesian First Lutheran Church Women met on Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the church.  President Judy Wormstadt opened the meeting with a devotional titled “Preparing to Give” and then led the Bible study based on  “Abigail, a Calm Strategist.”
After the Bible study a business meeting was conducted. Deanna Dean gave the treasurer’s report and Jerolyn Dean read the secretary’s minutes from the last meeting.
Business topics discussed included the progress of the Snack Pack program, results of the annual Thankoffering and a  general review of the 2013 outreach projects. Members are asked to think about projects and possible outings for 2014.
During the meeting the ladies made letters to be used on the Confirmation banner for Sarah Morgan and Garrett Dean, who will be confirmed on Sunday, Jan. 19.
A quilting session was scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17.
The spring gathering will be April 12 in Madison and the guest speaker will be from Global Health Ministries in Minneapolis. All are encouraged to make plans to attend.
The meeting was adjourned and the evening ended with the Lord’s Prayer, singing the table blessing and a delicious lunch served by hostess Judy Wormstadt.
