The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket boys and girls basketball teams remain undefeated on the season, following Saturday’s doubleheader in Woonsocket.
The Lady Blackhawks played their toughest contest of the season so far and came out on top of Mt. Vernon/Plankinton, 50-43.
In the final game of the afternoon, the Blackhawk boys finished with a 57-43 win over the Class “A” Titans.
The girls were led by senior standout Shelby Selland with 18 points and six rebounds. Rachel Selland put up 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four steals, while Myah Selland added nine points and five boards.
The Hawks shot 21-of-40 from the field and 7-of-15 from the free throw line.
MVP (5-3) was led by Megan Bultsma with 10 points and 10 boards. The Titans shot 14-of-46 from the field and 11-of-18 from the line.
The Blackhawks boys were led in scoring by Tucker Kingsbury with 13 points. Brady Tiede put out a double-double, 10 points and 13 boards, and Davion Brooks added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (6-2) was led by Deric Denning with 18 points and Nick Lawson with 11 points and seven rebounds.
MVP won the girls JV game 34-33. The Hawks won the JV boys game, 46-32.
The SCW girls and boys each improved to 5-0 and travel to Kimball to play Kimball/White Lake Tuesday, Jan. 14.
