schulz fire    A Sunday evening, Jan. 26 fire reduced a Twin Lakes home to ashes Sunday evening.
The home of Jack and Penny Schulz on the east side of Twin Lakes caught fire Sunday sometime before 8 p.m.
The Woonsocket Fire Department was called to the blaze around 7:45 p.m. By the time firemen arrived, the home was completely engulfed. Despite a hard, biting wind, firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures.
It is as of yet unclear how the fire started. The Schulzes were out of state at the time and had a friend housesitting.

The Miller/Highmore-Harrold Invite was held on Jan. 11 with the Blackhawk grapplers participating and placing two wrestlers. Jake Fouberg placed second at 195 and Riley Schmiedt placed fourth in the heavyweight division.

A car and two tractors were stolen from Letcher one night last week and taken joyriding by an unknown party.
Thursday evening, Jan. 16  or early Friday morning, Jan. 17 a car and a tractor were stolen from Clayton’s Repair in Letcher.
The car, owned by Shane Hemminger, was found two miles south of the Letcher cemetery in the ditch.
A 1086 International tractor was also taken from the repair shop and found, along with a city-owned tractor, stuck in a slough about a mile north of Letcher.
The crime is under the investigation of the Sanborn County Sheriff’s office. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call 605-796-4511.
