Hello from Prairie View Care Center.
The month of March is halfway through and we are so thrilled with the sunshine here at our facility! The sun and nice weather really helps to lift our spirits. Some of us are already enjoying spending a bit of time outdoors in the fresh air.
Each morning before lunch, we have been having great turnouts for fun and fitness. The residents really enjoy the exercises and games the restorative team do with them. We have been doing some interesting mental stimulation exercises as well during this time.
This week during fancy nail time, many of our ladies went with shimmering green nails in preparation for St. Patrick’s Day. We also did some fun mobile rainbow crafts to decorate the rooms for the upcoming holiday.
Bingo this week was sponsored by the Legion ladies. Everyone gets excited for bingo and the cookie treats this week were delicious. Thank you to all of our volunteers.
On Thursday morning, we had a group of guests come to visit. The Woonsocket sixth grade class came and read poetry in the solarium, hung St. Patrick’s Day decorations throughout the facility and hand delivered each resident a card. This was a fun time for all.
On Friday afternoon, we had a special treat. Many of the residents enjoyed gathering in the solarium to watch the 60th Anniversary Special for Captain 11 on Keloland. This brought many smiles and fond memories for residents and staff alike.
On Saturday morning, we had Mass with Father Jim and the residents really appreciate this time. Sunday afternoon we had a Baptist worship service in the solarium as well.
Phyllis Werly celebrated her 78th birthday on March 14. Our monthly birthday party will be on Tuesday, March 17.
Visitors to sign the guestbook included: Sue Harrington, Colton and Pat and Jeff Hotchkiss to see Connie Prins; David Burnison to see Betty Burnison; Velmer Zeigler to see John Tschetter; Sharon Ray to see Florence King; Bill Zell for Clarence Larson; Pastor Jerry Troester for Doris Grohmann; and Tracy Shields and Richard Coleman to see Bonita Coleman.
Just a reminder to all the kids out there that we will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt here at PVCC on Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m.
