When is a field trip not just a field trip?
The fifth and sixth grade classes at Woonsocket School had the idea to turn their field trip into a helping hands caring project for the Ronald McDonald House.
The first step was compiling a list of items that needed to be donated. The students brainstormed ideas. Items needed are toiletry items, microwave items and personal products.
The second step was advertising the project by handing out flyers, advertising at the school play program and creating colorful posters.
Third, the classes decorated boxes to collect items located at the school.
On May 11, the classes will go to the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux Falls to donate the collected items. The Ronald McDonald House serves everyone in need of a place to stay while a loved one, especially children, are in the hospital. This wonderful place runs on donations. The classes will also tour the facility.
The goal for the year, which was 300 items, encouraged the students to put others first. It you would like to help the classes reach their goal by donating, please bring your items to the fifth or sixth grade classroom at Woonsocket School.
