Janet Eining, Forestburg native and owner of Cellular Only Connection, Inc., was recently recognized as the South Dakota Small Business Person of the Year award winner.
The U.S. Small Business Administration gives out the awards and one finalist is chosen from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Eining and the other finalists attended ceremonies May 1-2 in Washington, D.C., where each state finalist was recognized and the National Small Business Person of the Year was announced. The event is held during National Small Business Week, May 1-7.
Eining started up Cellular Only in 1997 with a borrowed $5,000 she used to buy 80 phones to sell. Today she owns over 30 Verizon Wireless authorized retail stores. She also owns restaurant franchises of Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and The Original Pancake House in Sioux Falls, and last year, she opened up a retail space for Sioux Empire Lighting, also in Sioux Falls.
