It was déja vu Saturday afternoon in the Class B volleyball consolation championship, when, for the second year in a row, the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks faced the Platte-Geddes Black Panthers.
Last year, the girls from SCW suffered a hard-fought and heart-breaking five-set loss and this year, not much was different.
The Hawks pushed the match with the No. 7 seed to five sets, but lost 2-3. Set scores were 14-25, 25-17, 13-25, 26-24 and 5-15.
Myah Selland again made a huge effort with 20 kills and 27 digs, both game-highs. Kayla Olson added 29 assists, Tristan Ziebart had 17 digs and Maddie Vermeulen and Kyla Morgan each had 14 digs.
The Black Panthers were led by Jada Nelson with 17 kills, five aces and 21 digs. Alexix Peterson had 15 kills, and Hallie Hallock added on 37 assists, 25 digs and five aces.
Platte-Geddes ended their season 20-13, while the Blackhawks finished off their season 22-8.
