Local volunteer Gay Swenson of Woonsocket was recognized for her countless hours of service to the community on Nov. 21 by local Modern Woodmen of America members.
“Volunteers form the foundation of a strong community,” says Stacey Malde, local Modern Woodmen chapter activities coordinator. “Modern Woodmen’s Hometown Hero program gives us the chance to thank those who selflessly give their time to make the world a better place.”
As part of this program, members of the Woonsocket Modern Woodmen chapter presented her with a certificate and a $100 award grant, to be presented to the charitable organization of the honoree’s choice. Gay chose to give her $100 donation to the 2016 Christmas Caring Tree.
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects to meet local needs. For more information or to get involved, contact Malde at 605 (605) 732-4340 or stacey.malde@mwarep.org.
As a tax-exempt fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment products, not to benefit stockholders, but to improve quality of life for our members, their families and their communities. This is accomplished through social, charitable and volunteer activities.
