Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were P. Larson, S. Larson, Blindauer, and Ohlrogge. Auditor Larson was also present. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by P. Larson, to accept the minutes as presented.  All ayes.  Motion carried.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board.  Kogel presented different prices for reflective clothing for the department.  Propane quotes for 6,500 gallons were received: CHS Farmers Alliance – $0.70, Kieffer Oil Co. – $0.805, and Brooks Oil Co. Inc. – $0.734. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to accept the low quote of CHS. Payment of half will be made now and the other half after the first of the year.  All ayes.  Motion carried.
HURON TRANSIT
Rose Lee, Executive Director of People’s Transit, presented a plan to the board for providing bus service to Sanborn County residents.  Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to pay $5,000.00 per year to support the transit system.  All ayes.  Motion carried.
BUS APPRAISAL
The county will be purchasing the bus barn from the state to house the ambulance and other equipment for the county.  The state is requiring an appraisal for the bus shed.  The board visited with Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, on the value if it were being taxed.  Feeling that the appraisal received was too high, motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to submit an appraisal of $56,000 to the state.  All ayes.  Motion carried.
DIRECTOR OF EQUALIZATION
Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, met with the board to discuss happenings in her office.  Because of the vacancy in her office, Liz Hoffman will be working while Farris is gone to school September 19th to the 23rd.
