Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were P. Larson, S. Larson, Blindauer, and Ohlrogge. Auditor Larson was also present. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to accept the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board. Goergen presented an approach permit for Murray Van Laecken on the north side of 241st St. Road #8-0 Sec. 16 Letcher Township. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the permit. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to approve $200 yearly for clothes allowance for the highway workers starting October 1. State law and our insurance require them to wear reflective clothing. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to declare the 140M road grader as surplus with a value of $115,000. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to declare the wing from the 143H as surplus with a value of $2,500. All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to meet as the weed board. All ayes. Motion carried. An enforcement on property owned by Brian Walters was discussed. The enforcement letter will be served to Walters by the sheriff. If he does not spray the weeds, further action will be taken. The board reconvened as a Board of Commissioners.
DIRECTOR OF EQUALIZATION
Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, presented a plat for Ken and Sue Cooper for Starzman Outlots 1 & 2 a part of SW/4 36-108-36. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to approve the plat. All ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by P. Larson, seconded by G. Blindauer, to meet as a Board of Adjustment. All ayes. Motion carried. Farris presented a variance request for Michael & Laura Brosnan at Tract A of Kleinsasser Addn in NW/4 32-108-61 for a plat that consists of 1.997 acres. Sanborn County’s existing ordinance #1537 states that it is unlawful for any person to subdivide, layout, transfer, or record lands less than twenty acres. A new home will be placed on the property and for financing purposes a smaller track of property is required. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the variance. All ayes. Motion carried.
10:30 A.M. EXECUTIVE SESSION
Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to go into executive session. All ayes. Motion carried. At 10:35 A.M. Ebersforfer declared an end to executive session.
